How to revise GCSE maths without just re-reading
Maths is not a reading subject. Revision that never involves doing a question is not revision.
Method one: blank-page recall
Take a topic, close the book, write everything you remember. Then open the book and fill the gaps in a different colour. The gaps are the revision.
Method two: mixed practice
Ten questions from ten different topics is harder than ten from one — and much closer to the exam. Interleaving feels less comfortable and works better.
Method three: mark it properly
Use the mark scheme on every past paper question. Compare your method with the expected one. Children routinely lose two marks for a correct answer written without a step that the scheme rewards.
The weekly rhythm
Three sessions a week: one topic recall, one mixed paper section under time, one review of the errors. An hour each. Consistent beats heroic.
