11 Plus & Entrance
Building exam stamina for an 11 Plus paper
Dailysharing Tutors 3 min read
An 11 Plus exam might mean fifty minutes of silent concentration — a long time for a ten-year-old. Stamina can be built.
Practise in realistic blocks
Start with twenty minutes of focused work, then thirty, then the full length. Always at a desk, always without interruption.
Rehearse the day
Sit a full paper at the same time of morning as the exam, in a quiet room, with a clock visible. Familiarity reduces the adrenaline spike.
Teach the reset
When a child loses focus mid-paper, they need a strategy: stop, breathe, put the pencil down for five seconds, then continue. Practise this deliberately — it is a skill, not a mood.
