ADHD and tutoring: setting up for success
Dailysharing Tutors 4 min read
A child with ADHD can concentrate intensely — on the right task, for the right length of time. Tuition works when the structure fits the brain.
Before the session
Movement first. Ten minutes of physical activity before sitting down makes a measurable difference. A snack and water help too.
During the session
- Short, timed chunks: eight minutes of work, one minute of movement.
- One instruction at a time, written where it can be seen.
- Immediate feedback — delayed feedback loses its effect.
- A visible finish line, so effort has a shape.
One-to-one or small group?
Both can work. One-to-one removes the distraction of other children; a group of six provides momentum. Try one and review honestly after three sessions.
